Welcome!
I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about Veterans Day.
Sacrifice is a concept Christians understand clearly from Christ’s death on the cross for our sins. But Scripture tells us we’re also to live lives of sacrifice for OTHERS.. In fact, Ephesians 5:2 tells us to “walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God.”
A good picture of this type of sacrifice is found in veterans, those who have served our country and have risked their lives to protect our freedoms. We should both show them our appreciation for their service and value the freedoms that they’ve guarded.
As President Ronald Reagan said, “Veterans know better than anyone else the price of freedom, for they’ve suffered the scars of war. We can offer them no better tribute than to protect what they have won for us.” (“Radio Address to the Nation on America’s Veterans.” Ronald Reagan, www.reaganlibrary.gov/archives/speech/radio-address-nation-americas-veterans)
And what else is important to believers? We’ll discuss that another time.
