Preferred Pronouns (Part 1)

Welcome!

I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about “Preferred Pronouns.”

According to a recent Reuters news story, The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said that employers refusing to use transgender workers’ preferred pronouns is “harassment under federal anti-discrimination law.” (see “Enforcement Guidance on Harassment in the Workplace.” U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 29 Apr. 2024, www.eeoc.gov/laws/guidance/enforcement-guidance-harassment-workplace#_Toc164808005) In other words, if someone “misgenders” a man who wants to be called a woman by calling him … A MAN … then the person is likely to face criminal charges by this government agency.

But as Ken Ham noted, “We have been created by God as either male or female . . . no amount of external changes from drugs or surgeries changes your DNA, which is inherently sexed, or how God has created you . . . Using transgendered pronouns is lying about how God has created someone.” (Ham, Ken. “She/Her and He/Him: Should We Use Transgender Pronouns?” Answers in Genesis, 8 May 2023, answersingenesis.org/blogs/ken-ham/2023/05/08/should-we-use-transgender-pronouns/?srsltid=AfmBOoruyfnHCSSPJ9RGvZEnpGBYHCg6MFP1oNfElwPsdJYfcRT5O3Ox)

We would do well to speak the truth in love as Ephesians 4:15 compels us to.

What else should believers know about preferred pronouns? We’ll discuss that another time.
