Welcome!
Today, we’re talking about depression.
Depression has become a huge problem in our culture, especially for TEEN GIRLS.
According to the CDC, 57% of teen girls said they felt “persistently sad or hopeless,” What’s more, the study notes that 40% of girls said their depression kept them from doing their normal homework or sporting activities, and 30% of teen girls claimed they’ve considered suicide. (see “U.S. Teen Girls Experiencing Increased Sadness And Violence.” Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 3 Sept. 2025, www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2023/p0213-yrbs.html)
Though it’s debatable WHY girls are experiencing such depression, what IS certain is depression’s remedy: a vibrant relationship with Christ.
As (Martin Lloyd-Jones) said, “If you find that your feelings are depressed do not sit down and commiserate with yourself … this is the simple essence of it—go directly to Him and seek His face, as the little child who is miserable and unhappy because somebody else has taken or broken his toy, runs to its father or its mother.” (Cockrell, Peter. “Christ, Not Feelings.” Already Not Yet, 24 Aug. 2014, pjcockrell.wordpress.com/2014/08/24/christ-not-feelings-2)
What else should believers know about depression? We’ll discuss that another time.
