Community Service (Part 4)

Welcome!

Today, we’re talking about the Christian and community service.

As we believers see the cultural demise around us, it’s more important than ever to be salt and light in this world. And as we help meet people’s needs, doors often open to share the Gospel.

But where does the heart, strength, and stamina to serve others in our communities come from?

From God working IN US!

Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his” — that’s GOD’S — “workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.” (ESV)

In other words, as God works in us, we become His channels for ministering to others. It’s not our strength but only God’s power flowing through us that makes an eternal impact.

As Hudson Taylor said, “I used to ask God to help me. Then I asked if I might help Him. I ended up by asking Him to do His work through me.”

And what should Christians think about “home missions?” We’ll discuss that another time.
