Today, we’re talking about Hell.
The Bible describes Hell as a literal place of punishment. But what makes people have to go there?
Actually, in Matthew 25 Jesus tells us Hell wasn’t made for PEOPLE at all! It was made for the DEVIL AND HIS ANGELS!
So, why are people sent to Hell, then?
Well, 1 John 3:10 calls those outside Christ “children of the devil.” The fact is that humanity is stained by sin and deserves the same punishment as Satan and his cronies.
But God gave US a way of escape through Christ’s sacrifice for our sin at Calvary. Those rejecting God’s escape route will face the same punishment as the devil himself.
As John MacArthur said, “Hell is for those who hate God. They act against His mercy; they act against His grace.”
Salvation from eternal punishment is possible, but it’s only found in Christ.
What about the Lake of Fire? We’ll discuss that another time.
