Welcome!
I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about Memorial Day.
Memorial Day is more than just a day off from work and family cookouts. Memorial Day was once called “Decoration Day” because it was a day to decorate the graves of lost loved ones – especially those who gave their lives in America’s defense.
President Ronald Reagan noted the sacrifice of the young men who gave all for their country, stating that “when they died … they gave up two lives – the one they were living and the one they would have lived. When they died, they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers. They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for our country, for us.”
As Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13 NIV)
Now, what else should be important to believers? We’ll discuss that another time.
