Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Today, we’re talking about the positive influence of the church.
As church attendance declines in America, so does national happiness … REALLY!
The Pew Research Center found that “[t]hose who attend religious services weekly or more often are happier than are those attending less often. Those who seldom or never attend services are the least likely to say they are very happy.”
So, what does church have to do with people’s happiness?
Well, God designed the Church as a place to meet believers’ spiritual and emotional needs. Church is where Christians can find comfort in God’s Word, feel part of a community worshipping God together, be loved and appreciated, and use their talents for God’s glory in a fulfilling way. As the lost accept Christ and become part of His body within a local church, much of the fear, anxiety, loneliness, and despair become resolved. And how else does the Church benefit society? We’ll discuss that another time.
