MORALITY: The Danger of Adultery to a Believer’s Testimony

Welcome!

I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about adultery.

God expects those who are married to keep the commitments they’ve made to their spouses. When these commitments are broken by adultery, lives and families are broken. But that’s not all — adultery ruins testimonies, too.

As author Michael Hyatt said, [Adultery will] “cost your reputation. People in our culture disagree about morality, but there’s remarkable agreement about one sin: infidelity. It’s wrong and everyone knows it. No one’s handing out scarlet A’s today, but people will find out, and they will not forget—even if some are gracious enough to forgive.”

As Proverbs 22:1 reminds us, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.”

Committing adultery not only ruins a marriage, but it also creates a stigma that can last a lifetime for the people involved. Staying faithful in marriage will help keep a believer’s testimony strong.

Now, how does adultery affect a person spiritually? We’ll discuss that another time.
