MORALITY: The Importance of Purity

Welcome!

I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about sexual purity.

How important is it? Not very important to the world, it seems. Tragically, according to the CDC, over half of all teens have engaged in sexual activity outside marriage.

But sexual purity is important to GOD. In fact, in 2 Timothy 2:22, Paul tells Timothy, “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

You see, God designed sexual intimacy for marriage, and going outside His plan is, ultimately, unfulfilling.

As author Elisabeth Elliot said, “I am convinced that the human heart hungers for constancy. In forfeiting the sanctity of sex by casual, nondiscriminatory ‘making out’ and ‘sleeping around,’ we forfeit something we cannot well do without. There is dullness, monotony, sheer boredom in all of life when virginity and purity are no longer protected and prized.”

And what are the dangers of cohabitating before marriage? We’ll discuss them another time.
