TRUTH & DOUBT: Understanding the Enemy’s Strategy (Part 1)

Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!

Today, we’re talking about the enemy’s strategies and how to respond to them.

The Bible tells us the Devil is “a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” Sometimes we forget Satan is active – and aggressive – in sowing doubts about God and the Bible in people’s minds.

One way Satan does this is through entertainment – specifically film. Hollywood has never been a friend to believers, but in recent decades the movie industry has shown growing hostility to Christianity. Cinematic works like Johnny Mnemonic and Jesus Camp scorn biblical truth and portray Christians as weirdos, prudes, or villains.

As believers, we should avoid films portraying God’s Word and God’s people in a way that makes us doubt His truth and disrespect those who follow Him. Such movies may seem harmless but can negatively impact our spiritual lives.

As Philippians 4:8 says, “[W]hatever things are PURE … think on THESE THINGS.”

What are other ways the enemy deceives? We’ll discuss them another time.
