Today, we’re talking about how the Unification Church views Jesus Christ. Members of the Unification Church – better-known as “Moonies” – claim founder Sun Myung Moon of Korea was a modern-day messiah.
So, what does the Unification Church believe about Jesus? Well, the Unification Church claims Jesus was just a man and not divine. Although the Unification Church claims Jesus brought a kind of “spiritual” salvation to the world, it also says His death on the cross was a failure because He did not establish a “physical” family on earth to undo Adam’s fall. In fact, Sun Myung Moon proclaimed himself the follow-up messiah to finish what Jesus started and to establish a perfect family on earth.
But I John 5:11 reminds us that Jesus is the only Savior: “And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”
