Lifesite news reports that the U.S. Supreme Court announced last week that it has rejected an emergency appeal on behalf of the porn industry to block a Texas law that requires visitors of X-rated websites to verify they are at least eighteen years old.  Last week, Georgia became the fifteenth state to enact such legislation, which requires users to upload state-approved identification to the porn sites they frequent. Seven states have passed similar laws this year.

This high court announcement is encouraging for all the states that have enacted these laws to protect kids. Republicans introduced a similar bill here this session. The Assembly passed the bill but the senate never acted on it. If there were concerns about court challenges, this Supreme Court announcement should put those to rest for the next legislative session.
