Months ago, Assembly Speaker Robin Vos told the Universities of Wisconsin that they wouldn’t be getting thirty-one million dollars for raises and additional investment funds unless they reduced their diversity, equity, and inclusion positions. Vos and Universities officials negotiated an agreement that late last week the Board of Regents rejected the deal. Assembly leadership issued a statement saying the Universities preferred to, quote, “continue their ideological campaign to force students to believe only one viewpoint is acceptable on campus.”

So it’s truly DEI or bust for the UW system. You have to wonder what the employees who were hoping for a raise think of the Regents rejecting the deal. The students are the real losers in this because they are denied the full perspective on critical issues. So much for the “sifting and winnowing” that’s supposedly the hallmark of the UW.
