Wisconsin not only has a safe haven law for infants, but we also have a safe families law that allows parents to put their children temporarily with approved volunteer families while dealing with personal crises. The program seeks to keep children safe and families together. Their goals are to prevent child abuse and neglect, reduce the number of children entering the child welfare system, and support and stabilize families.
More people and churches need to know about this Safe Families opportunity. In fact, this program is a great way for churches to involve willing families to help other families that are at risk without their children going into foster care.
