Are There Levels of Severity in Hell?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” (Revelation 20:12)

There will be degrees of judgment in the eternal existence of those who rejected Jesus Christ in the Lake of Fire. It will be determined by their particular acts which all have been recorded in the books (plural). Jesus says that the reason you will have to go to Hell is because your name was not found written in the Book of Life (singular), so they were cast into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:15). The degrees of punishment will be based upon their activities.  Murderers will be punished throughout eternity. I believe there will be harsh punishment for those who have portrayed themselves as preachers and teachers who diverted anyone from coming to Christ and perverted the Word of God. I think that they will have a hotter Hell than even murderers, rapists, etc. (Revelation 20:12 – “they were judged according to their works.”)

I disagree with the book, Love Wins, published by Rob Bell in which he states that there is no such thing as eternal Hell and that you can get out of it eventually.  That is heresy and is untrue.  He is a heretic.

Hell is a place where the fire is not quenched, and it is eternal damnation.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
