We’re on the third day of praying in song as part of the “Hour of Prayer.”
Today we’re looking at the sweet Psalmist of Israel, David. David had a lot to be thankful for. He was a shepherd boy, the “runt of the litter,” chosen by God to be King. He defeated giants, captured Jerusalem (just over 3,000 years ago!), begat a dynasty, wiped out the Philistines, Moabites, Arameans, Amalekites, and more. Yet he recognized that he had nothing to boast in save the Lord:
[1] And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:
2 Samuel 22:1
David begins by extolling the attributes of God:
[2] And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
2 Samuel 22:2
He continues by declaring the worthiness of God to receive our praise:
[4] I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
2 Samuel 22:4
And later continues his blessing of the Lord!
[47] The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.
2 Samuel 22:47
