It’s January 10, 1776. I’m with Thomas Paine, writer of the revolutionary pamphlet Common Sense.
JG: “Mr. Paine, what words from your inspiring pamphlet could you share with us?”
TP: “Oh ye that love mankind, ye that dare to oppose not only the tyranny but the tyrant, stand forth! Every spot of the old world is overrun with oppression. Freedom hath been hunted around the globe, all received the fugitive and prepare in time and asylum for mankind.”
Common Sense was read by thousands throughout the colonies and encouraged Americans to fight the tyrant King George of England.
