Canada’s culture of death is reaching a horrifying new frontier. The Quebec College of Physicians has reiterated that euthanasia could be an “appropriate treatment” for newborn babies suffering from severe disabilities, serious syndromes, or extreme pain that cannot be relieved. While euthanasia of newborns is not currently legal in Canada, the proposal has already been presented in Parliament.
Think about what this means: a baby who has done nothing wrong, who cannot speak for himself, and who is completely dependent upon others could be deemed better off dead because of his disability or medical condition.
This is where the logic of the culture of death inevitably leads. When we decide that some lives are less valuable because they are vulnerable, disabled, or suffering, no one is truly safe. Every human life, from conception until natural death, has inherent dignity and deserves our protection.
