One of the characteristics of our culture today is that of violence.  All over our nation and the world, many have been impacted by mass shootings, knifings, physical assault and sexual assault, car jackings, teen takeovers and domestic violence.

Amidst such times it behooves us to be alert.  It’s not about being fearful as we go out the door each day, but are there precautions you can take to stay safe or to induce a climate of safety?  How should we respond in such times?

Returning to Crosstalk to discuss this issue was Dr. Richard Schmidt.  Dr. Schmidt is pastor of Union Grove Baptist Church, and founder of Prophecy Focus Ministries.  He’s the speaker on the weekly TV program, Prophecy Focus and the radio broadcast, Prophecy Unfolding.  He is an author of several books primarily related to Bible prophecy.  He spent 32 years in law enforcement including that of acting sheriff of Milwaukee County until his retirement.

The broadcast began with Dr. Schmidt citing some astounding statistics.  7,618 homicides have taken place in America just since January.  The injury total from these homicides 14,245.  Up until yesterday there have been 278 mass shootings based on four or more people having been injured or killed.  Keep in mind, this is just gun violence as we must remember that violence also takes place in numerous other ways as well.

So when it comes to violence, in addition to the categories already listed, are there any special precautions that women should take?  What about church gatherings, active shooters or road rage?

Review this edition of Crosstalk for the information you need to know in order to stay safe!
