For this edition of Crosstalk, Jim was broadcasting live from the 2022 Christian Home Educators of Wisconsin Conference, taking place in Wisconsin Dells.

The first guest to sit down with Jim was Amy Buchmeyer.  Amy is a staff attorney with the Home School Legal Defense Association serving as the contact attorney for 13 states.  

This conversation briefly touched on the requirements for home schooling in states like Wisconsin, dispelling misconceptions surrounding homeschooling and some of the common questions parents have about getting involved in homeschooling.  

Second on the docket was Carl Kerby.  Carl is president & founder of Reasons for Hope.  Prior to forming Reasons for Hope, he was a founding board member of Answers in Genesis and served there for 15 years.  Carl is also a former air-traffic controller at Chicago-O’Hare.  He is co-creator and host for the video series, Weapons of Mass Instruction and presenter of the DVD series for teens, Demolishing Strongholds and presenter on the Becoming Bold DVD series for teens and adults.  He is the author of numerous books including his latest release, Did Jesus Commit Suicide: And 27 Other Questions.  He’s producer of a series of videos called, DeBunked.

Carl defined exactly what apologetics is, what is causing some young people to move away from the faith, what parents can do to equip their pre-teens and teens and more. 

Next up was Israel Wayne.  He’s the founder & director of Family Renewal as well as an author and conference speaker.  He and his wife are raising their eleven children in S.W. Michigan.  He’s the author of numerous books including Homeschooling from a Biblical Worldview, Full-Time Parenting: A Guide to Family-Based Discipleship and others.

Israel explained how he manages to parent properly with 11 children, what he recommends concerning getting your other responsibilities accomplished while also home schooling, the top issues he hears concerning parenting and others.  

The final guest was Julaine Appling.  She’s the president of Wisconsin Family Council.  

Julaine shared her greatest concerns as it pertains to education, why marriage and gender are under attack today and if our current social trends can be countered.
