There are many ways we can impact society with our lives. The problem is, many activities that cause us to impact the world around us can cause us to forget the eternal destinies of many. To put it another way, what good does it do to make the world a better place to be launched into hell from?
Those naming the name of Christ because they know they’ve been bought by His blood know the answer to this issue because the Bible instructs them to be salt and light (Matt. 5:13-16). It’s not one or the other. Sharing the Gospel is just as critical a responsibility today as it’s ever been.
Do you know what the Great Commission is? Do you know what section of Scripture mentions this? Jim asked these questions because late last week he received an e-mail from George Barna’s organization. It noted that 51% of church goers don’t know of the Great Commission, 25% said ‘yes’ but can’t recall the exact meaning, and 6% aren’t even sure they’ve heard the phrase.
Jim presented the statistics as broken down by generation and also opened the phone lines to find out how Crosstalk callers feel about this trend.
